Postseason 2019: Bye Bye, Blue

One got the job done the moment they set foot in the batter's box. The other took all the time they had. Neither was supposed to do what they did. Of the two favorites who hosted game five last night, both went home empty handed. The St. Louis Cardinals and Washington Nationals will face off in the 2019 National League Championship Series. The Los Angeles Dodgers and Atlanta Braves will head back home, dreaming of what might have been.

Projections as of 09 October 2019

By the middle of the first inning, the bar below would have risen to 98%. It was all over but the crying, and after the full nine it was the Atlanta Braves going "wee wee wee" all the way home. St. Louis will have home field advantage in the NLCS when they host the…

…Washington Nationals, who killed off the 106-win Los Angeles Dodgers in dramatic fashion, winning a playoff series for the first time since they moved to the nation's capital.

There's still one more game five tonight, with the Houston Astros looking to put down the Tampa Bay Rays for good. Will it be a grind or a grand finale? My numbers give Houston about the same chances that they gave LA last night. Make of that what you will.

Three spots are filled. Two teams vie for the fourth. More elimination baseball is coming, and we are here.
