Projections 2019: One Ray More #SorryNotSorry

For the second game in a row, the Houston Astros failed to put away the stubborn Tampa Bay Rays. Fans of the cheapest team in baseball will be singing One Ray Mooorrree* as they attempt to complete the upset Thursday night in Houston.

*They might not be doing this.

Projections as of 09 October 2019

Recent heroics notwithstanding, my system still picks the Astros as substantial favorites, expecting Houston to advance to the ALCS in front of their home crowd in game five. The winner will do their best to remind the New York Yankees what losing feels like.

Both NLDS contests resume this evening. The Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals will each attempt to upset their rivals on the road. My system makes the Atlanta Braves slight favorites and the Los Angeles Dodgers more substantial favorites to advance to the NLCS.

Either way, two teams will be pouring champagne tonight and two teams will be heading back to their clubhouses to clean out their lockers for the winter. But wherever they go, and whatever happens to them on the way, in that enchanted place on the top of the mound a little boy and his bear will always be playing.
